RESUMO

Primary meningioma at extracranial head and neck sites is uncommon. Since fine needle aspiration (FNA) is often the first line diagnostic modality for the evaluation of masses in the head and neck, extracranial meningiomas can create a significant diagnostic pitfall for FNA. We report a case of meningioma with rhabdoid features and BAP1 loss in a 26-year-old woman, presenting as a large neck mass along the carotid sheath. FNA biopsy of the mass demonstrated a highly cellular specimen with clusters of uniform, epithelioid cells with round to ovoid nuclei and moderate nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio. An extensive immunohistochemical panel performed on cell block sections showed that the tumor cells were weakly EMA positive, progesterone receptor was focally positive, and SSTR2A was diffuse and strongly positive. BAP1 immunohistochemistry showed a diffuse loss of expression in the tumor cells. After the cytologic diagnosis of meningioma, a tissue biopsy was performed, and the diagnosis of meningioma with rhabdoid features and BAP1 loss was confirmed. We also perform a literature review of meningioma cases presenting as a neck mass and evaluated by FNA. Our case highlights the significant diagnostic challenges that can be caused by extracranial meningiomas on FNA and the importance of ancillary studies to avoid diagnostic pitfalls.

Non-invasive differentiation of paediatric kidney tumours is particularly important in the SIOP-RTSG protocols, which recommend pre-operative chemotherapy without histological confirmation. The identification of clinical and tumour-related parameters may enhance diagnostic accuracy. Age, metastases, and tumour volume (TV) were retrospectively analysed in 3306 patients enrolled in SIOP/GPOH 9, 93-01, and 2001 including Wilms tumour (WT), congenital mesoblastic nephroma (CMN), clear cell sarcoma (CCSK), malignant rhabdoid tumour of the kidney (MRTK), and renal cell carcinoma (RCC). WT was diagnosed in 2927 (88.5%) patients followed by CMN 138 (4.2%), CCSK 126 (3.8%), MRTK 58 (1.8%) and RCC 57 (1.7%). CMN, the most common localized tumour (71.6%) in patients younger than 3 months of age, was diagnosed earliest and RCC the latest (median age [months]: 0 and 154, respectively) both associated with significantly smaller TV (median TV [mL]: 67.2 and 45.0, respectively). RCC occurred in >14% of patients older than 120 months or older than 84 months with TV <100 mL. Receiver operating characteristic analyses discriminated WT from CMN, RCC and MRTK regarding age (AUC = 0.976, 0.929 and 0.791) and TV (AUC = 0.768, 0.813 and 0.622). MRTK had the highest risk of metastasis (37.9%) despite young age, whereas the risk of metastasis increased significantly with age in WT. Age and TV at diagnosis can differentiate WT from CMN and RCC. MRTK must be considered for metastatic tumours at young age. Identification of CCSK without histology remains challenging. Combined with MRI-characteristics, including diffusion-weighted imaging, and radiomics and liquid biopsies in the future, our approach allows optimization of biopsy recommendations and prevention of misdiagnosis-based neoadjuvant treatment.

BACKGROUND: Atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumours (AT/RT) are uncommon but aggressive, malignant tumours in the paediatric age group. Presentation of concomitant supratentorial and infratentorial lesions in an infant is extremely rare. We discuss an infant diagnosed with such lesions. Systematic PubMed search was conducted using keywords 'atypical teratoid /rhabdoid tumor', 'paediatric' and 'multifocal'. Reports were included for patients younger than 18 years with two or more lesions. The search yielded additional five cases and were tabulated. Age, sex, location, treatment given and survival/outcome were noted. CASE REPORT: A 10-month-old child presented with complaints of drowsiness and intractable vomiting. Imaging showed multifocal supra- and infratentorial lesions with obstructive hydrocephalus. The child underwent ventriculoperitoneal shunt followed by surgical removal of the posterior fossa lesion. Histopathological features were consistent with AT/RT. CONCLUSIONS: Multifocal AT/RT are very rare. The impact of multifocality in the outcome is not known as very few reports are available. Newer targeted therapies may offer insight in improving outcomes in the future.

RESUMO

We present a case of primary rhabdoid tumour of the orbit. Presenting features at birth included congenital ptosis, conjunctival injection, hyphaema and microphthalmia. The unique presentation caused a late diagnosis following the development of rapid proptosis 6 months later. We suggest that orbital rhabdoid tumour be considered in the differential diagnoses of patients presenting with atypical persistent foetal vasculature features.

This paper aims to explore the epidemiology, clinical characteristics, and prognosis of extracranial malignant rhabdoid tumors (eMRTs) in children. A systematic review and meta-analysis of studies published in PUBMED, MEDLINE, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) was conducted. The search was limited to studies published between Jan 1, 1990 to Dec 31, 2022, with the last search done on Jan 31, 2023. We identified 496 papers through the literature search, and 12 retrospective cohort studies with 398 patients were included. The pooled age at diagnosis for malignant rhabdoid tumor of the kidney (MRTK) was 10.009 months (95%CI (7.542-12.476)), while extracranial malignant rhabdoid tumor (EERT) was 25.917 months (95%CI (17.304-34.530)). Among the 398 patients with eMRTs, chemotherapy treatment rate (86.8% (95%CI (74.4-96.0%))) was more frequently than radiotherapy treatment (45.4% (95%CI (38.1-52.6%))). The rate of metastasis in all patients was 41.4% (95%CI (33.9-48.9%)), in which the lung metastasis was occupied 70.4% (95%CI (58.0-81.6%)). SMARCB1/INI1 mutation was up to 93.2% (95%CI (81.3-99.8%)). The rate of total surgical resection was 50.4% (95%CI (35.2-65.6%)), while pooled proportion of death in all patients was 68.7% (95%CI (56.9-79.5%)).     Conclusion: EMRTs are highly malignant tumors associated with high mortality rates. The loss of SMARCB1/INI1 gene and the protein expression is observed in the vast majority of eMRTs patients. Patients that suffered MRTK are younger than patients with extrarenal EERT and are more prone to lung metastasis, but there is no significant difference in overall survival, possibly due to the higher rate of R0 resection of primary tumors in MRTK.     Trial registration: The study was registered on PROSPERO with registration number CRD42023400985. What is Known: • Malignant rhabdoid tumor (MRT) is a rare and highly malignant tumor that may originate from embryonic stem cells. The incidence of MRT is exceptionally low, estimated at 0.00006%. • Malignant rhabdoid tumor of the kidney (MRTK) and extrarenal extra-cranial malignant rhabdoid tumor (EERT) tend to manifest between 11 to 18 months of age, with a 5-year survival rate of approximately 17%-36%. What is New: • There is no comprehensive meta-analysis or large-scale case series that reported to systematically introduce the eMRTs clinic outcome and prog-nosis based on largely pooled data. • This study performed a meta-analysis through an extensive literature search and clinical data analysis in order to mainly explore the clinical characteris-tics and prognosis of eMRTs, improving the understanding of eMRTs in children..

INI1-deficient gastric undifferentiated carcinoma is a rare tumour that may present as high-grade epithelioid morphology without apparent rhabdoid tumour cells. Syncytial tumour cells may be a crucial clue in such cases, especially in cytological specimens. Cell block and immunocytochemical staining can be valuable tools in achieving an accurate diagnosis.

BACKGROUND Malignant rhabdoid tumors are rare and aggressive pediatric tumors that usually arise in the kidney and have a characteristic appearance on histology. Extrarenal malignant rhabdoid tumors originating in the liver are extremely rare. This report is of a 5-month-old girl who presented with a rapidly enlarging abdominal mass due to a malignant rhabdoid tumor of the liver. CASE REPORT A 5-month-old female patient with no known medical history had been experiencing increasing abdomen distention and less overall activity for 1 month, according to her parents. Abdominal ultrasonography was used for diagnostic purposes, and the results showed the presence of a mass with a solid and cystic appearance in the upper left quadrant of the abdomen. The patient was transferred to a tertiary care hospital for further investigations. The laboratory test results indicated a hemoglobin level of 8.2 g/dL, and the liver function tests were within the reference range. However, the serum tumor marker alpha-fetoprotein level was 1310 ng/mL, while the b-human chorionic gonadotropin was within range. Computed tomography detected a nonspecific heterogeneous mass of the liver. Histopathology revealed discohesive cells with rich eosinophilic cytoplasm, eccentric nuclei, and large central nucleoli (rhabdoid appearance). Immunohistochemistry showed negative integrase interactor 1 protein expression. The diagnosis was a primary malignant rhabdoid tumor located in the liver. CONCLUSIONS This report shows the importance of combined diagnostic imaging and histopathology analysis to confirm the diagnosis of rare pediatric tumors, including malignant rhabdoid tumor, to ensure early diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Glioblastoma with a primitive neuronal component (GBM-PNC) is a rare subtype. In this case, GBM-PNC was difficult to diagnose conclusively because the specimen consisted of only a few high-grade glioma components. A 73-year-old woman presented with sensory aphasia and minor right-sided hemiplegia. Imaging revealed a neoplastic lesion with a maximum diameter of approximately 5 cm in the left frontal lobe for which surgery was performed. Histologically, most atypical cells were immature components with high nuclear-cytoplasmic ratios and immunopositive for neuroendocrine markers. Minor components of atypical glial cells were found at tumor margins. Rhabdoid cells were observed in undifferentiated components. Immunostaining was positive for glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), nestin, and Olig2 in both undifferentiated and atypical glial cells. The major undifferentiated components showed significantly low GFAP, nestin, and Olig2 expression levels within the foci of the undifferentiated components, in contrast to the atypical glial component, neurofilaments and synaptophysin were immunopositive for undifferentiated components. Rhabdoid cells were immunopositive for myogenin, desmin, and HHF35, suggesting their differentiation into striated muscles. This was a particularly rare case because rhabdoid differentiation was observed in PNC.

Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare and aggressive malignancy. Extensive rhabdoid morphology in ACC has been described recently in very few cases. The proportion of rhabdoid morphology and the role of SMARCB1/ INI1 expression in these tumor cells to diagnose the specific variant is not described in the literature. We reviewed the clinicopathological features of nine cases of adrenocortical neoplasm. Out of which, three cases of ACC showed predominant rhabdoid morphology. Large discohesive cells with abundant cytoplasm containing eosinophilic inclusions, eccentric vesicular nucleus, and prominent nucleoli. INI1 immunostain was retained in all cases. We reported the rhabdoid variant of ACC, a novel entity, and its diagnostic approach from their histological mimickers. Identifying more cases of this entity will help to clearly understand the pathogenesis, biologic behaviour, and any specific molecular alterations in the future.

Objective: Wilms tumor (WT) and Rhabdoid tumor (RT) are pediatric renal tumors and their differentiation is based on histopathological and molecular analysis. The present study aimed to introduce the panels of mRNAs and microRNAs involved in the pathogenesis of these cancers using deep learning algorithms. Methods: Filter, graph, and association rule mining algorithms were applied to the mRNAs/microRNAs data. Results: Candidate miRNAs and mRNAs with high accuracy (AUC: 97%/93% and 94%/97%, respectively) could differentiate the WT and RT classes in training and test data. Let-7a-2 and C19orf24 were identified in the WT, while miR-199b and RP1-3E10.2 were detected in the RT by analysis of Association Rule Mining. Conclusion: The application of the machine learning methods could identify mRNA/miRNA patterns to discriminate WT from RT. The identified miRNAs/mRNAs panels could offer novel insights into the underlying molecular mechanisms that are responsible for the initiation and development of these cancers. They may provide further insight into the pathogenesis, prognosis, diagnosis, and molecular-targeted therapy in pediatric renal tumors.

The 2016 WHO classification of tumors of the central nervous system affected importantly the group of CNS embryonal tumors. Molecular analysis on methylome, genome, and transcriptome levels allowed better classification, identification of specific molecular hallmarks of the different subtypes of CNS embryonal tumors, and their more precise diagnosis. Routine application of appropriate molecular testing and standardized reporting are of pivotal importance for adequate prognosis and treatment, but also for epidemiology studies and search for efficient targeted therapies. As a result of this approach, the term primitive neuroectodermal tumor-PNET was removed and a new clinic-pathological entity was introduced-Embryonal tumor with multilayered rosettes (ETMR). The group of CNS embryonal tumors include also medulloblastoma, medulloepithelioma, CNS neuroblastoma, CNS ganglioneuroblastoma, atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (ATRT) and their subtypes. This chapter will focus mainly on ETMR and ATRT. Embryonal tumors with multilayered rosettes and the atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumors are undifferentiated or poorly differentiated tumors of the nervous system that originate from primitive brain cells, develop exclusively in childhood or adolescence, and are characterized by a high degree of malignancy, aggressive evolution and a tendency to metastasize to the cerebrospinal fluid. Their clinical presentation is similar to other malignant, intracranial, neoplastic lesions and depends mainly on the localization of the tumor, the rise of the intracranial pressure, and eventually the obstruction of the cerebrospinal fluid pathways. The MRI image characteristics of these tumors are largely overlappingintra-axial, hypercellular, heterogeneous tumors, frequently with intratumoral necrosis and/or hemorrhages. Treatment options for ETMR and ATRT are very restricted. Surgery can seldom achieve radical excision. The rarity of the disease hampers the establishment of a chemotherapy protocol and the usual age of the patients limits severely the application of radiotherapy as a therapeutic option. Consequently, the prognosis of these undifferentiated, malignant, aggressive tumors remains dismal with a 5-year survival between 0 and 30%.

Embryonal tumors (ETs) of the central nervous system (CNS) comprise a large heterogeneous group of highly malignant tumors that predominantly affect children and adolescents. Currently, the neoplasms classified as ET are the medulloblastoma (MB), embryonal tumors with multilayered rosettes (ETMR), medulloepithelioma (ME), CNS neuroblastoma (NB), CNS ganglioneuroblastoma (GNB), atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumors (AT/RT), and CNS embryonal tumors with rhabdoid features. All these tumors are classified as malignant-grade IV neoplasms, and the prognosis of patients with these neoplasms is very poor. Currently, except for the histological classification of MB, the recently utilized WHO classification accepts a novel molecular classification of MBs into four distinct molecular subgroups: wingless/integrated (WNT)-activated, sonic hedgehog (Shh), and the numerical Group3 and Group 4. The combination of both histological and genetic classifications has substantial prognostic significance, and patients are categorized as low risk with over 90% survival, the standard risk with 75-90% survival, high risk with 50-75% survival, and very high risk with survival rate lower than 50%. Children under three years are predominantly affected by AT/RT and represent about 20% of all CNS tumors in this age group. AT/RT is typically located in the posterior fossa (mainly in cerebellopontine angle) in 50-60% of the cases. The pathogenesis of this neoplasm is strongly associated with loss of function of the SMARCB1 (INI1, hSNF5) gene located at the 22q11.23 chromosome, or very rarely with alterations in (SMARCA4) BRG1 gene. The cells of this neoplasm resemble those of other neuronal tumors, and hence, immunochemistry markers have been utilized, such as smooth muscle actin, epithelial membrane antigen, vimentin, and lately antibodies for INI1. ETMRs are characterized by the presence of ependymoblastic rosettes formed by undifferentiated neuroepithelial cells and neuropil. The tumorigenesis of ETMRs is strongly related to the amplification of the pluripotency factor Chr19q13.41 miRNA cluster (C19MC) present in around 90% of the cases. Additionally, the expression of LIN28A is a highly sensitive and specific marker of ETMR diagnosis, as it is overexpressed in almost all cases of ETMR and is related to poor patient outcomes. The treatment of patients with ETs includes a combination of surgical resection, radiotherapy (focal or craniospinal), and chemotherapeutic agents. Currently, there is a trend to reduce the dose of craniospinal irradiation in the treatment of low-risk MBs. Novel targeted therapies are expected in the treatment of patients with MBs due to the identification of the main driver genes. Survival rates vary between ET types and their subtypes, with ganglioneuroblastoma having over 95% 5-year survival rate, while ATRT is probably linked with the worst prognosis with a 30% 5-year survival rate.

BACKGROUND: National Cancer Institute-Children's Oncology Group Pediatric Molecular Analysis for Therapy Choice assigns patients aged 1-21 years with refractory solid tumors, brain tumors, lymphomas, and histiocytic disorders to phase II trials of molecularly targeted therapies based on detection of predefined genetic alterations. Patients whose tumors harbored EZH2 mutations or loss of SMARCB1 or SMARCA4 by immunohistochemistry were treated with EZH2 inhibitor tazemetostat. METHODS: Patients received tazemetostat for 28-day cycles until disease progression or intolerable toxicity (max 26 cycles). The primary endpoint was objective response rate; secondary endpoints included progression-free survival and tolerability of tazemetostat. RESULTS: Twenty patients (median age = 5 years) enrolled, all evaluable for response and toxicities. The most frequent diagnoses were atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor (n = 8) and malignant rhabdoid tumor (n = 4). Actionable alterations consisted of SMARCB1 loss (n = 16), EZH2 mutation (n = 3), and SMARCA4 loss (n = 1). One objective response was observed in a patient with non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis with SMARCA4 loss (26 cycles, 1200 mg/m2/dose twice daily). Four patients with SMARCB1 loss had a best response of stable disease: epithelioid sarcoma (n = 2), atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor (n = 1), and renal medullary carcinoma (n = 1). Six-month progression-free survival was 35% (95% confidence interval [CI] = 15.7% to 55.2%) and 6-month overall survival was 45% (95% CI = 23.1% to 64.7%). Treatment-related adverse events were consistent with prior tazemetostat reports. CONCLUSIONS: Although tazemetostat did not meet its primary efficacy endpoint in this population of refractory pediatric tumors (objective response rate = 5%, 90% CI = 1% to 20%), 25% of patients with multiple histologic diagnoses experienced prolonged stable disease of 6 months and over (range = 9-26 cycles), suggesting a potential effect of tazemetostat on disease stabilization.

BACKGROUND: Embryonal tumors are highly malignant cancers of the central nervous system, with a relatively high incidence in infants and young children. Even with intensive multimodal treatment, the prognosis of many types is guarded, and treatment-related toxicity is significant. Recent advances in molecular diagnostics allowed the discovery of novel entities and inter-tumor subgroups, with opportunities for improved risk-stratification and treatment approaches. SUMMARY: Medulloblastomas separate into four distinct subgroups with distinct clinicopathologic characteristics, and data from recent clinical trials for newly diagnosed medulloblastoma support subgroup-specific treatment approaches. Atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor (ATRT), embryonal tumor with multilayered rosettes (ETMR), and pineoblastoma, as well as other rare embryonal tumors, can be distinguished from histologically similar tumors by virtue of characteristic molecular findings, with DNA methylation analysis providing a strong adjunct in indeterminate cases. Methylation analysis can also allow further subgrouping of ATRT and pineoblastoma. Despite the dire need to improve outcomes for patients with these tumors, their rarity and lack of actionable targets lead to a paucity of clinical trials and novel therapeutics. KEY MESSAGES: (1) Embryonal tumors can be accurately diagnosed with pediatric-specific sequencing techniques. (2) Medulloblastoma risk stratification and treatment decisions should take into account molecular subgroups. (3) There is a dire need for a novel collaborative clinical trial design to improve outcomes is rare pediatric embryonal tumors.

Gastric undifferentiated/rhabdoid carcinoma is a rare highly invasive tumor of epithelial origin. Due to mutations in the switch/sucrose non-fermentable (SWI/SNF) complex, these tumor cells are usually dedifferentiated, presenting a characteristic rhabdoid profile. In this report, we present a gastric rhabdoid carcinoma in a 77-year-old man who presented with intermittent epigastric pain. Gastroscopy revealed a giant ulcer in the antrum, which proved to be a malignant tumor in the biopsy. Therefore, he was admitted to our hospital and underwent laparoscopic radical gastrectomy and D2 lymphadenectomy. The resected neoplasm contained a variety of rhabdoid cells that lacked well-differentiated elements. Immunohistochemical staining revealed that SMARCA4/BRG1 expression was absent in tumor cells. Finally, the patient was diagnosed with undifferentiated/rhabdoid carcinoma of the stomach. The patient was treated with tegafur-gimeracil-oteracil potassium capsules postoperatively. There were no signs of imaging changes observed at the 18-month follow-up. We reviewed similar cases in previous reports. These tumors are more likely to affect older male adults and usually lack typical symptoms. Histologically, most tumor cells are poorly cohesive and rhabdoid, and differentiated compositions of various degrees can occasionally be seen. Positive staining for vimentin was seen in all tumor cells. Epithelial markers are positive in the majority of tumors. SWI/SNF mutant tumors tend to be associated with a poor prognosis. In this review, more than half of the patients died within one year after surgery. The treatments for these diseases are still being explored.

RESUMO

Extracranial malignant rhabdoid tumors (MRT) are very rare and aggressive tumors. They are typically associated with an extremely poor prognosis, particularly when seen in the infant and neonatal population. Here we present the case of a newborn female born with a large vaginal mass and evidence of prenatal lower urinary tract obstruction that was determined to be a MRT of vaginal origin. In this report, we will also discuss an overview of extracranial MRT tumor biology and treatment considerations.

RESUMO

Ascitic fluid analysis is an important tool for diagnosis and staging. Cytological analysis is routinely done as a part of workup for ascites. This is challenging in paediatric malignancies where multiple differentials need to be considered at times with limited cellularity. We present a case of malignant rhabdoid tumour of liver in a young child presenting with abdominal lump and ascites. The diagnosis was offered on ascitic fluid cytology based on cytomorphology, supporting immunohistochemistry and later confirmed on biopsy. This report briefly discusses its differentials and approach to diagnosis.

RESUMO

Extrarenal rhabdoid tumour of soft tissue in children is a rare tumour associated with poor prognosis. It is a heterogeneous group of aggressive tumours with distinct histopathological and immunohistochemistry findings. The tumour is characterised by diffuse proliferation of rhabdoid cells with hyaline like inclusion bodies. Defining feature is aberration of INI1/SMARCB1 gene located at chromosome 22q11.2. We report one such rare case in a female infant presenting as left axillary mass.

PURPOSE: Atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumour (AT/RT) is a highly malignant central nervous system tumour of early childhood. According to the latest WHO classification, the diagnosis of AT/RTs needs to be confirmed by the absence of SMARCB1 (INI1) or SMARCA4 (BRG1) protein expression. AT/RT in the pineal region is infrequent and most have not been proven genetically. Here, we report a case of AT/RT in the pineal region, preoperatively misdiagnosed as a meningioma. Immunohistochemistry revealed the absence of INI1 protein expression. METHOD: A 29-month-old boy was admitted to the hospital after 14 days of emotional apathy and a 2-day vomiting history. AT/RT was not considered during the initial diagnosis because this tumour is rare in this region and is often accompanied by cystic degeneration and necrosis on imaging. Subsequently, the patient underwent surgery and the tumour was completely excised. RESULT: The pathological diagnosis was AT/RT. After discharge, the patient continued chemotherapy in other hospitals but died five months after surgery because of disease progression. CONCLUSION: To our knowledge, this is the fifth case of paediatric pineal AT/RT confirmed genetically. Although in children AT/RT in the pineal gland is rare, a differential diagnosis of AT/RT should be considered when new pineal masses appear in children. For this highly malignant disease with poor prognosis, it is very important to detect and recognize the disease as soon as possible, and to adopt surgery plus multiple treatment management.

Background: Extrarenal rhabdoid tumours (ERT) are highly aggressive tumours that are poorly responsive to standard cytotoxic chemotherapy and are associated with a grim prognosis. Primary ERT of the liver are most commonly observed in early childhood and exceptionally rare later in life. Case presentation: We report the case of a 16-year-old male patient, presenting with flu-like symptoms after his second COVIDvaccination. During the work-up, a large solid liver lesion was incidentally discovered upon abdominal ultrasound examination. Pathological examination rendered the diagnosis of primary ERT of the liver, characterized by the loss of expression of INI-1 protein, encoded by the SMARCB1 gene. We summarized and discuss the existing literature by reviewing 53 pediatric and 6 adult cases, including the histological features treatment and outcomes of primary hepatic ERT. Conclusion: Primary ERT of the liver are usually not associated with specific signs or symptoms, making the diagnosis very challenging. As ERT are associated with a high metastatic rate, delayed diagnoses lead to increased mortality, as complete resection is not possible in advanced-stage cases. Therefore, early diagnoses, enabling complete resection of the tumour are crucial to improve patient outcomes. Of interest, primary ERT of the liver, is associated with biallelic loss of the SMARCB1 (SWI/ SNF Related, Matrix Associated, Actin Dependent Regulator Of Chromatin, Subfamily B, Member 1) gene, a potential target for cancer therapeutics. This is, to our knowledge, the first case of a hepatic rhabdoid tumour treated with liver transplantation.
